338 Lapua Ammo
A powerful rifle cartridge used extensively by both military and sport shooters, .338 Lapua Magnum ammunition was developed by Scandinavian defense contractor Nammo Lapua Oy in 1989. It is used by snipers in the armed forces of dozens of countries (often with rifles from Sako or Accuracy International) due to its long-range performance. As of 2016, the record for the longest-ranged sniper kill is held by a British soldier who used an AI L115A3 rifle chambered in .338 Lapua to kill two Taliban machine gunners in Afghanistan.
.338 Lapua ammunition typically fires a heavy 200 or 250 grain bullet at a muzzle velocity of about 3,000 feet per second. Match bullets can reach 300 grains, further enhancing the projectile's long-range stability.
It's no surprise with these specs that .338 Lapua ammo is capable of taking just about any large game animal that walks the planet. Shooters using this formidable caliber, however, would be well-advised to invest in a quality recoil pad for their rifle!

The ELD-X’s versatile performance makes it effective no matter the distance it has to travel. When it strikes a target at high velocity, its thick jacket and InterLock ring keep its core and jacket together to deliver up to 60 percent weight retention as it expands within a target. When it strikes at lower velocities, its polymer tip effectively initiates wide expansion accompanied by up to 90 percent weight retention. With such versatility you’ll be well-equipped however far away you might find your quarry.
This Precision Hunter round’s is a highly accurate bullet as well, a feat it owes largely to its Heat Shield tip which won’t deform in response to aerodynamic heating. The ELD-X’s ability to group tightly is further bolstered by its highly concentric jacket, secant ogive profile, and boat tail design which grants it a trajectory flatter than a topographical map of Florida. This round’s concentric select brass casing also greatly promotes its accuracy and precision. -

$149.85Product Type Ammo Manufacturer Barnes Condition New Bullet Weight 280 Grain Bullet Type Polymer Tipped Use Type hunting big game, hunting whitetail deer Casing Type Brass Quantity 20 Ammo Caliber 338 Lapua Magnum Manufacturer SKU 30727 Primer Type Boxer Magnetic No UPC Barcode 716876382804 Cost Per Round $7.49 per round These rounds from Barnes are just the fuel that your custom .338 Lapua Magnum bolt-gun needs to reach out and drop mule deer and elk at extended range! As part of the VOR-TX Rifle lineup, these rounds utilize Barnes's Long Range eXpanding (LRX) projectile which possesses an all-copper body with a polymer tip that conceals a hollow-cavity.
The bullet is designed for clean stability and drag resistance with a keen ogive, precise boat tail, and long body which grabs more of your barrel's rifling for increased spin. Upon impact, the wind-shielding polymer tip is driven back into the hollow cavity in order to initiated wide, peeling expansion.
A series of grooves which reduce pressure, prevent setback, and preserve accuracy also serve to stifle fragmentation and keep the bullet intact during entry. This results in a hard hitting round that penetrates through dense hide and bone before depositing its momentum into vital organs in order to bring big game down with humane efficiency.
The projectile weight of 280 grains is a common heavy choice in the .338 Lapua caliber and is supported by readily available drop tables. Barnes is one of more notable projectile manufactures in the U.S. and has a rich history stretching back to 1932. Their complete ammunition allows shooters who don't handload to enjoy premium quality performance suited to any need.
