In July 1999, Gaston Glock survived an assassination attempt in Luxembourg from a former associate. The attacker was a former French Legionnaire named Charles Éwert, and he hired an assassin to ambush Glock in a parking garage and use a mallet to kill him.

The motive behind the attack was tied to financial fraud and embezzlement. Éwert was involved in Glock’s financial dealings, and investigations revealed that he had been siphoning funds from Glock’s company and orchestrated the attack to prevent Glock from prosecuting him.

Demonstrating remarkable resilience, Glock fought off the attacker despite sustaining severe injuries. His quick thinking and physical response helped him survive and facilitated Éwert’s and the hitman’s apprehension and eventual conviction.

A Private Man Away From The Public Eye
